EIGHT LIGHTS ON CHAG Ha’URIM: IS THERE A SOURCE IN THE MISHNAH ?

In the 2nd book of Maccabbees (chapter 10, 6-7) we read ַמ ַק ִבים ב' י,ו-ז (ו) ַו ָיּ ֹחגוּ ֶׁאת ְש ֹמ ַנת ַה ָיּ ִמים ְב ִש ְמ ָחה ְכ ַחג ַה ֻסכוֹת ְב ָז ְכ ָרם ֶׁאת ְרעוֹ ָתם ִל ְפ ֵני ְז ַמן ָמה ְב ַחג ַה ֻסכוֹת ֶׁב ָה ִרים וּ ַב ְמ ָערוֹת ְכ ַחיּוֹת ַה ָש ֶׁדה. (ז)ְוַעל ֵכן ְבַעְנֵפי ֵעץ ָעבוֹתוְּבַעְנֵפי ָהָדרוְּב[ַכפוֹת] ְתָמִרים ִביֵדיֶׁהםהוֹדוּ ַלֲאֶׁשר ִהְצִליַח ְבָיָדם ְלַטֵהר ֶׁאת ְמכוֹנוֹ. Translation (by MD): (6) They celebrated the eight days with gladness, like the festival of Sukkot, remembering how, not long ago, they spent the last Chag-haSukkot in the mountains and in the caves like the animals in the field. (7) Therefore, with branches of myrth and of citrus and of palm tree in their hands they thanked to the One who made them succeed to purify His Sanctuary's site.
